Proud To Be Me

Featuring Anthony Jerome
Photography by Demetrius Markee

Standing only 5'4" tall Anthony Jerome has one of the biggest personalities I have ever had the pleasure of coming into contact with. He is very outspoken, opinionated and in your face with who he is and what he stands for as an individual.

He is proud of his heritage, loves his family and is quick to let everyone know he was born and raised in California. Anthony is the product of an African American mother and Puerto Rican father and is very proud of both his heritages.

He loves speaking about his father and his heritage as well as his mother and her side of the family and you can sense the pride he has while speaking on either. Antony Jerome is a true definition of a person who is one hundred percent content with being who he is.

NATE

Featuring Nate
Photography by Demetrius Markee

Every so often you come across people who just completely get you and your vision. I speak with a lot of people, who approach me to do a shoot, with ideas and visions that I sometimes just don't see it aligning with my work. There are times when simplicity is all that is needed to bring out the best in a person and highlight their natural beauty.

Nate and I have known one another for years. We have always had great conversations about our goals, ambitions, dreams and overall life in general. He has always mentioned how much he loved my work and how one day he'd love to say he was photographed by me.

Although he now resides in Indianapolis, at the time of these photos were taken we were both living in Atlanta Georgia. We decided to have an impromptu shoot the day before he moved to Indianapolis. The only lighting used was natural sunlight and his skin's natural glow. You don't have to add bells and whistles to something that alone already grabs your attention.

Introducing Tyvon Odumodu

Featuring Tyvon Odumodu
Photography by Demetrius Markee

I always enjoy shooting new faces who are getting started in the modeling world. I love seeing people so eager to learn all they can learn about the industry as well as having a hunger to succeed and that's exactly what I saw in Tyvon when we met.

Tyvon is a smart guy who decided to place his eggs in multiple baskets rather than placing them all into one. He is trying his hand at modeling, but has been rapping and singing for some time now. I spoke with Tyvon a few times before we actually shot and we got to know one another a little better and he is a very intelligent guy with plans for himself.

Talented, down to earth and very laid back the shoot was a breeze.. Me not being a fan of long drawn out shoots we shot for maybe a little over an hour and that was all we needed, because he nailed it. I see great things ahead for him, so ladies get ready. You can check for his music and more about Tyvon Odumodu via his Facebook page or his agent's page as well Elliott Gambrell.

REAL STEEL

Featuring Zo'
Stylist Demanti O'Bryant
Photography by Demetrius Markee

Ini, mini, miny, "ZO!" I had been discussing a collaboration with St.Claire Modeling for some time at this point and we had finally came up with a vision for what I thought were to be two fresh faced, male models.

Once arriving at destination I learned that vision could possibly change due to some timing issues. I won't can't say I was pleased with finding out the models were running extremely late, but once I met Zo' it became apparent that  maybe the other model was meant to be running behind in order for him to shine.

This was Zo's first shoot, but oddly enough he wasn't the "Deer caught in headlights" I thought he would be. He took direction very well, was open to any suggestions and quite frankly did a pretty good job if I must say so myself. With the guidance of Demanti O'Bryant I think this will be one model to watch out for!

Heart of The City

Featuring Tim McCulloch
Photography by Demetrius Markee

Tim (Timothy) McCulloch has such an amazing understanding of what it is to be a model. He walked in with such a warming personality and a big smile and yet when I stated I wanted somewhat of a mellow, melancholy mood for the shoot he turned it on instantly.

I was a little unsure if he would be able to give me what I was looking for in the beginning with us shooting in downtown Atlanta, right in the middle of people walking around, driving by, and stopping to steal a glance at us, but to my surprise he posed for the camera as if he was the only one in the entire city.

All of The Lights

MUA Dree Beats
Photography by Demetrius Markee
Hair Keisha Johnson (Hachoo doo's)

Up until this point I had not shot many female models, but this year I decided to change that. The reason I had not shot many females up until this point was not because I don't enjoy shooting them, but to be completely honest it is a handful shooting females and requires a lot more patients.

With male models you can pretty much throw them in front of a camera and call it a day for the most part, but that's not the case with females. Most female models have to be fried dyed and blow dried before stepping foot in front of the camera. In any case this turned out to be a beautiful shoot and I look forward to shooting many more beautiful women and producing great images this year.
